Table of contents

Quick Approvals power-up brings a quick, intuitive approval workflow directly to your Trello cards. Approve cards with a single click, track progress visually using live card badges, and maintain a clear record of all decisions.

Getting started

To start approving cards on your board, complete three quick steps below. If you're an experienced power-up user, you can skip reading this section.

Enable power-up

First, enable Quick Approvals on your Trello board. Click Power-Ups (the rocket icon) in the board header, then Add Power-Ups. Search for "Quick Approvals" and click Add. See Enabling power-ups if you run into trouble.

Authorize power-up

Next, authorize the power-up to access your board data. Click the Quick Approvals button (the checkmark in a circle icon) in the board header. When Trello's authorization window will appear, review the permissions and click Allow.

Start subscription

Quick Approvals power-up requires a paid subscription, with a 7-day free trial. Click the Quick Approvals button in your board header (the checkmark in a circle icon), and click Subscribe. You'll be redirected to Stripe to process payment safely, then back to your board. See Managing subscriptions to learn more.

Approving cards

Once the power-up is active, you can start approving cards instantly:

  1. Open a card and click Approve button in the Quick Approvals section. This will increase the card's approval count.
  2. The front of the card shows a live approval status badge (for example, "2/3 approvals" or green "Approved") so you can see progress at a glance.
  3. Inside the card, below the Approve button, you will see the list of eligible approvers. It shows who has approved or not with an icon next to each approver's avatar.

Customizing approval rules

To update approval rules according to your team's needs, click the Quick Approvals button (the checkmark in a circle icon) in the board header. From there, you can set following rules:

  • Number of required approvals: Decide how many approvals a card needs before it's considered complete.
  • Eligible approvers: Allow approvals from all members or just designated team members.
  • Eligible lists: Activate approvals on all lists or just the ones you select.

Approval flow customization

Pro tip: you can mix and match settings in a smart way to achieve desired approval flow. For example, you can set number of required approvals to match the number of eligible approvers to make sure that every approver must sign-off a card.
